FVB scientists hold lectures and courses at universities and universities of applied sciences. Diplom and Master’s theses, PhD theses and Habilitation theses are written at FVB institutes in cooperation with higher education institutions.

Young scholars benefit from the outstanding infrastructure; they receive excellent supervision and gain an insight into a life of science at the institutes. A total of 222 PhD students are currently working at the FVB institutes (as of 31 December 2020).

PhD students and post-docs can find out about vacancies on this website or on the institutes’ websites.

The institutes are involved in several graduate schools and EU Innovative Training Networks (ITN), enabling PhD students to explore interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research topics.

Each year, FVB presents a Marthe Vogt Award to a female scholar who has written an outstanding PhD within a scientific area covered by FVB in the region of Berlin and Brandenburg.
