a) Description
Heading hierarchies are not consistently applied, semantic markup for page sections is missing, and there are empty paragraph tags in the HTML code.

Programming and editorial teams are working together to establish a semantically logical heading hierarchy on all pages. The templates will be revised so that all page sections are embedded within the appropriate landmarks (header, main, footer) and all navigation elements are clearly labelled.

a) Description
The cookie dialogue is located at the bottom of the page and is not integrated into a semantically meaningful landmark.

a) Description
The colour contrasts within the navigation are, in some cases, insufficient, as are those for links within the body text. When the text size is changed, some elements disappear from the visible area. The keyboard focus is, in some cases, too low. The active menu item is highlighted only by its text colour.
b) Actions
The site’s templates and CSS will be adapted to ensure that colour contrasts and focus highlighting are sufficient throughout, and that all elements remain visible when the text size is changed.

a) Description
The links to individual news items cover the entire box containing text and an image, resulting in unnecessarily long link text that must be read aloud.

The page’s templates and CSS will be adjusted so that the link is placed only on the ‘Read more’ button, with a meaningful title.

a) Description
The buttons for moving forwards and backwards in the slider, as well as those for navigating to the links on the individual slides, are not meaningful or are partly labelled in English.
There is no control element for pausing or playing.

The templates will be adapted so that the buttons contain meaningful labels in the selected language. The automatic animation will be removed and/or a play/pause button added.

a) Description
The number of search results found is not conveyed to assistive technologies as a status message after the search has been carried out.
b) Measures
The code will be adapted so that when the number of hits is updated following a search, this change can be automatically announced by screen readers without shifting the focus. To this end, a corresponding paragraph tag with the ‘aria-live’ attribute will be implemented.

a) Description
When browser settings for dark/light mode are changed, the website’s appearance does not change.
Whilst changes to text size are possible, they sometimes lead to layout issues or content disappearing from the visible area.
b) Actions
A design will be developed and the relevant CSS updated to respond to user settings for dark/light mode.
The CSS specifications for font sizes will be revised and the layout issues causing content to disappear from the visible area will be resolved.
