The basis for starting out on a successful career is a good apprenticeship. Have you finished school, maybe studied for a while, and are now in search of attractive career prospects? Then we have quite a lot to offer you – especially if you’re into modern technology, research, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Researchers from 60 different countries work with us. Together, we develop tomorrow’s methods, technologies and products – e.g. in health care, communications, sensing and environmental protection. Research always means teamwork. As an apprentice, you will be a member of the team, helping to secure achievements in science.
Thanks to the extensive and diverse training they receive, our fully fledged apprentices are highly employable – whether in research institutions and universities or in trade and industry.
We look forward to receiving your application!

Concerning this, we comply with the Collective Agreement for Apprentices in the Public Sector (TVAöD), which isn’t bad ;-). Your contact person at the institute will be able to tell you how much that is at present.
Yes, every September we will pay you a €50 allowance for learning materials.
Absolutely! We (and the TVAöD) are very generous in this respect. Capital-forming payments, an annual special payment, occupational pension provision – the whole works! And if you manage to complete your apprenticeship, the TVAöD will give you a completion bonus ;-).
Definitely! Your trainer will be at your side throughout your apprenticeship to make sure you achieve your learning objectives. This support includes exercises that you will go through together; some institutes also offer external training or English courses.
You will work 39 hours a week, usually spread over five working days.
You will be entitled to 30 days’ vacation each calendar year. You will also have five days leave to prepare for your final examinations.
This does happen, but we cannot promise anything. However, most institutes offer the possibility of gaining six to twelve months’ work experience after completing the apprenticeship.
Great importance is attached to family-friendliness at the Forschungsverbund. Under certain conditions, apprenticeships can be undertaken part-time. By the way, most of our institutes have an audit workandfamily (audit berufundfamilie) certificate.
If apprentices perform well and certain conditions are met, the length of the apprenticeship may be shortened by six or even twelve months.
Yes, of course! It’s always worth submitting a (speculative) application.
Paper applications are a thing of the past. Simply apply online. To do this, visit our website and find the vacancy that interests you. You’ll find more details there.
We’re “old school” in this respect :-). The usual covering letter, Curriculum Vitae and certificates.
