The Charta der Vielfalt is an initiative to promote diversity in companies and institutions under the patronage of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

By signing the Charta der Vielfalt, the Forschungsverbund is sending a clear signal in favor of diversity and tolerance in the working world and signaling its appreciation of all employees regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and belief, sexual orientation and social origin.

“Each of our research institutes employs a large number of international scientists. But not only for the scientists, also for the employees of our joint administration, we want to take a stand for today and for the future by signing the Charta der Vielfalt. The Forschungsverbund is committed to cosmopolitanism and diversity. Top-level science and the management behind it can only succeed if different minds contribute different perspectives to solving complex problems,” said Martin Böhnke, managing director of the Forschungsverbund.

“Our society is more diverse and differentiated than ever: all the more important is the commitment to diversity and to respectful and appreciative togetherness in the workplace. By signing the Charta, organizations are clearly demonstrating that the diverse needs of employees must be taken into account and firmly anchored in their internal structures. Diversity is not only an attitude that is worth standing up for every day, above all it must be followed by action,” adds Charta managing director Franzi von Kempis.

The idea behind diversity management: an organizational culture in which diversity is lived naturally leads to all employees contributing their potential in the best possible way. More and more companies and institutions are seeing this advantage: around 6,000 corporations, companies, public institutions, associations, foundations and organizations have already signed the Charta der Vielfalt.
